Acrylic & ledger paper on canvas
30” x 40”
Glimmer Trap reflects the dark pull of gambling and its impact on individuals and communities. An old-fashioned slot machine sits over ledger paper, a material tied to Indigenous survival and adaptation. Here, it serves as both a canvas and a reminder of imposed systems.
Slot machines, the most addictive form of gambling, lure people with false promises of wealth, often leading to loss, depression, and hardship. Their bright facade hides the real harm they cause. This piece calls for honest dialogue about gamblings consequences, especially in communities where its effects are collective, not just personal.
